Mission

The MISMO eMortgage Workgroup develops voluntary technical standards and business and technical guidance for the advancement of electronic mortgages and paperless technology in the mortgage industry and also provides general education about the legal framework for the use of eMortgages and related standards.

High Level Goals

Provide voluntary standards and guidelines to enable paperless mortgage transactions between businesses, consumers and government agencies (B2B, B2C and B2G).

Provide voluntary standards and guidelines on key eMortgage processes such as eNote registration, eRecording, and electronic vaulting.

When appropriate, the E-Mortgage Workgroup’s standards and guidelines will leverage the voluntary standards and guidelines developed by other MISMO workgroups as well as ones published by external standard bodies such as W3C, OASIS, ISO and others.

Current Projects
MISMO Seeks Participation in eMortgage View Whitepaper Initiative
SMART Doc® Version 3 is a uniform way of transmitting the documents used in all types of mortgage-related transactions and services. The new structure combines the capabilities of the previous SMART Doc ® 1.02, PRIA Document 2.6, and Embedded File structures and supports various view formats such as: PDF, XHTML, TIFF, XPS, and others.

MISMO has established a project to review these view formats and document how each of them meets the needs of the various business uses cases, from the simple case of transmitting just the image of a document, to the more complex cases that require view, data and mappings.

The result of this effort will be a white paper that describes the capabilities of the various view formats and provides recommendations about their use. This work will also provide guidance to the MISMO workgroups decisions as they begin to create their own MISMO V3 SMART Doc® samples.

This is a joint initiative of all MISMO workgroups and all companies interested in transmitting or receiving documents using MISMO V3 are invited to join this effort. Please contact Charles Epperson for more information.

How to Participate

Get involved by joining the eMortgage (Primary) Workgroup mailing list to receive announcements and participate in conference calls and listserv discussions. The eMortgage workgroup has monthly calls on the First Thursday of every Month at 1PM EST.
