The MISMO organization uses a variety of technology tools to achieve its mission of creating electronic data standards for the real estate finance industry. Below is a list of the technologies MISMO uses along with a description and links to access additional information.
SharePoint is MISMO's online document repository. It serves as the storage locations for all Workgroup activities including draft standards, working documents and all meeting minutes. SharePoint is a subsciber only benefit. If you company is a subscriber and you do not have a username and password, please send an email to info@mismo.org and the appropriate credentials will be issued. Subscribers may access SharePoint at: http://sharepoint.mismo.org.
The original idea behind Wikis was to create a collaborative, fast environment which would still be persistent. Wikis emphasizes content, convenience, and accessibility and a higher level of collaboration. MISMO's Wiki is based on the JSPWiki platform and is used to manage the Version 3 MISMO Engineering Guidelines (MEGs), the Version 3 Arhcitecture Task List, and other collateral items from various MISMO Workgroups. MISMO's Wiki is available to all MISMO participants. Potential users may visit http://wiki.mismo.org/MISMOWiki and create a username and password after accepting MISMO's Intellectal Property Right policy.
Listservs are the main medium used by MISMO Workgroups for communication. Each MISMO Workgroup maintains its own listserv and uses the technology for announcements and discussion forums on topics in their specific subject areas. Contivo Builder is a vocabulary based XML Schema development tool designed specifically to address the challenges of scale and teamwork in designing information standards. Contivo Builder is a desktop application that allows MISMO participants to capture business requirements, definitions and structure in a shared vocabulary model. Contivo Builder generates the XML Schemas directly from the vocabulary model that are consistent and technically correct. MISMO has chosen to use Contivo Builder for its design, creation and management of the Residential Version 3 standard and the Commercial data standards. Builder can be downloaded by MISMO Paticipant, for free, on the Contivo Builder Download page.
Adobe Connect, formerly Macromedia Breeze, is a secure, flexible web communication solutions for training, marketing, enterprise web conferencing, and online collaboration. Connect allows MISMO participant to login to a virtual meeting room and review and update documents, presentations or even XML instance files. Connect allows the Workgroups to have more productive meetings through the live interaction with documents, XML structures and various other MISMO deliverables.
