Business Glossary User Guide
The Business Glossary and associated User Guide was published as Final status on January 8, 2026.
Recent updates incorporate terms from the MISMO Artificial Intelligence Glossary, key terminology related to Housing Counseling participants and practices, and terms associated with the MISMO Life of Loan Process Model related to Origination and Servicing. The update also introduces two new Term Types, “Outcome” and “Regulation”, providing additional context and clarity to glossary entries, as well as a new Focus Area and Source for artificial intelligence related terms.
The Business Glossary User Guide provides an easy to follow “how to” for users of the MISMO Business Glossary, an important online resource that contains more than 8,000 mortgage industry business terms and data point descriptions.
This new user guide is designed to assist industry users navigating the recently updated MISMO Business Glossary which includes content from MISMO and non-MISMO sources. The user guide demonstrates search capabilities within the Business Glossary, the ability to search by term and/or definition as well as classifications, such as term type, focus area, and source. The guide also contains screenshots of the MISMO Business Glossary in its new format, and different ways to access and/or download the glossary.
