MISMO Engineering Guidelines 0002 (XML 1.0 Profile) V2.0
MISMO® announced that it is seeking member comment on several updated MISMO Engineering Guidelines (MEGs). The 30-day member comment period runs through August 13th, 2025.
Updates to this MEG include:
- Removed the summary table and redundant content
- Improved rationale, grammar, and formatting
MEG 0002 describes the specification of the MISMO XML Profile. The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is an open, platform-independent language for structuring data. The standards associated with XML can be interpreted and implemented in different ways, which can cause interoperability issues. The MISMO approach to ensuring interoperability amongst its constituent participants is to define profiles of the relevant de facto and de jure XML standards. The profiles retain full compliance with the standards while excluding those aspects that could cause interoperability issues when exchanging XML instance documents that use or extend those standards.
This MEG was developed to provide guidance to the following stakeholders of MISMO messages:
- MISMO work group members developing MISMO messages
- Designers and users of systems that create and consume the XML instance documents used in real estate finance transactions
- Technical or business professionals wishing to evaluate MISMO specifications
