Mortgage Insurance Implementation Guide V3.4
MISMO® announced the release of updates to the Mortgage Insurance Implementation Guide v3.4 for a 30-day public comment period, open through June 26, 2026.
The public comment period allows those who participated in the proposal at least 30-days’ notice prior to final release to review and disclose any applicable Patent Rights (as defined by MISMO’s 2018 Intellectual Property Rights Policy).
MISMO requests that any organization that may have any patent or patent applications, or other intellectual property rights that might be infringed upon by an organization that uses or is compliant with these proposed MISMO products to disclose them at this time in writing. All comments and disclosures are due by June 26, 2026, and should be directed to [email protected].
The MI v3.4 iGuide contains guidance for the data requirements necessary to facilitate the electronic ordering of MI rate quotes, MI commitments, contract underwrites, document packages and querying for MI order responses. This important resource maintains alignment with industry standards and other MISMO work products so that mortgage insurers, trading partners and technology providers have consistent and accurate guidance which enables improved communication and less costly integrations.
The MISMO Mortgage Insurance Community of Practice would like to remind all trading partners that it is necessary to coordinate with your MI provider partners to implement these upgrades. Please reach out to contacts specified at www.mismo.org/mi to ensure you have appropriate information for each MI provider you work with.
What It Includes
Updates to the MI v3.4 iGuide include:
- Addition of a wrapper that will enable schema validation on MI extension data terms
- Addition, deprecation and change to various data points and enumerations
- Inclusion of more recent versions of iLAD
