MISMO Publishes Updated SMART Doc® V1.02 Guidance

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 29, 2025) – MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today published revisions to the SMART Doc®1.02 Implementation Guide and Mapping Workbook.  

The updated standard includes enhanced guidance on the following:

• Mapping electronic Home Equity Line of Credit (eHELOC) Agreements
• Supplemental Document requirements
• Revised Registry Operator guidance
• Improvements to the Mapping Workbook for easier use

“Standardized SMART Doc® guidance and mapping support greater interoperability and help mortgage service providers preserve data integrity during eNote transactions,” said Acting MISMO President Rick Hill.

The public comment period allows at least 30 days’ notice prior to final release to review and disclose any applicable Patent Rights (as defined by MISMO's 2018 Intellectual Property Rights Policy).

MISMO requests that any organization that may have any patent or patent applications, or other intellectual property rights that might be infringed upon by an organization that uses or is compliant with these proposed MISMO products to disclose them at this time in writing.
