Brittney Prophete (202) 557-2799WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 28, 2026) – MISMO®, the
real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced a
partnership with the California Mortgage Bankers Association
(California MBA) to lead two industry workshops at the
Mortgage Innovators Conference 2026 (MIC), taking place May 6–7, 2026, in Huntington Beach, California.
The
two workshops, Mortgage Compliance Dataset (MCD): Standardizing
Regulatory Data, and Operationalizing AI in Mortgage, will bring
together industry stakeholders to address evolving mortgage origination
exam testing and establishing a common industry approach to addressing
governance and risk considerations when applying Artificial
Intelligence.
“MISMO
is committed to bringing the industry together to solve complex
challenges through collaboration and standardization,” said Brian
Vieaux, CMB, President of MISMO. “Our partnership with the California
MBA at MIC provides an opportunity to advance important conversations
around two of MISMO’s key initiatives – the Mortgage Compliance Dataset
and artificial intelligence, while educating participants about tools
the MISMO Community has developed for the industry.”
The
MCD Workshop will feature a state regulator, California Department of
Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI). The discussion will
highlight DFPI’s testing and implementation progress and examine how
greater standardization and consistency in compliance data can reduce
examination costs for lenders. Adoption of the MCD will also enable more
effective pre-exam testing and support the streamlining of regulatory
reporting.
“Given
the rising costs of conducting in‑person examinations, the Mortgage
Compliance Dataset offers a meaningful path forward. By standardizing
data and reducing manual review time, MCD helps keep examination costs
down for lenders while allowing regulators to complete exams more
efficiently,” said Sheila Oliver, DFPI, Deputy Commissioner.
The
Operationalizing AI in Mortgage Workshop will examine how organizations
can responsibly implement artificial intelligence solutions to drive
efficiency, improve decision-making, and enhance borrower experiences.
The session will also address governance, risk management, and alignment
with industry standards to ensure scalable and compliant AI adoption.
The
Mortgage Innovators Conference 2026 is a premier event for mortgage
professionals seeking to stay at the forefront of innovation,
technology, and regulatory developments. MISMO’s participation
underscores its ongoing commitment to developing standards that support
interoperability, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across the real
estate finance ecosystem.
